The Haitian Dance and Drum Retreat is producing a Haitian Dance and Drum
Conference hosted in San Francisco and Oakland California on September 23rd,
24th and 25th, 2005.

This Conference is being co-sponsored "In-kind" by alliance of new supporters
of Haitian Dance and Drum Retreat, and they are as follows: in SF, Rhythm and
Motion Dance Studio and SF ARTSED; in Oakland, Laney College/Laney College

Dance Dept.

We are proud to present an International Artistic Staff, and 2 renowned
Special Guests that includes:

Peniel Guerrier choreographer/percussionist
Damas Fanfan Louis percussionist/houngan asogwe
Michelle Martin choreographer/educator
Blanche Brown director/choreographer/founder of Petit Le Croix
Alicia Pierce SF State Dance Dept/Lead Dance Instructor
Portsha Jefferson choreographer/director Tou Limen Rara
Colette Eloi choreographer/co-director of Reconnect Haitian Cultural Ensemble
Zeke Nealy percussionist/composer/organizer HDADR

*Special Guests: Ms. Ruth Beckford founder/mother of Afro-Centric Dance in
SF Bay Area
Dr. Yvonne Daniels author/educator/film-maker
All 3 previous Haitian Dance and Drum Retreats were produced without
corporate/public/private funding. To continue our efforts make quality arts
programs accessible to the community and to provide vital international
connections between the various communities that share an affinity for
Haitian Culture, we are in need of your support to make this Haitian Dance
and Drum Conference a smashing success.

Please make arrangements to attend ,or make a donation, even if you live in
Madagasgar. Housing arrangements are being made so that travellers will be
able to rent low-cost rooms from hosts in SF/Oakland. Let us know your
housing needs ASAP so that we can provide direct contacts with the hosts.

Fee: $225 for entire conference
$15.00 individual classes

Action: Consider making plans to attend the Haitian Dance & Drum Retreat,

Sept. 24-26, 2004. Taking a percussion class with our very own Ezili Danto drummer, Damas Fanfan. Or, the ever fantastic Haitian dance teacher/choreographer and dancer, Nadia Dieudonne. Not to mention learning about Haitian dance from one of the last remaining Haitian dance icons of the Katherine Dunham days, Master Haitian dancer/teacher/choreographer, Jean Leon Destine.
